BRILLIANCE FOR SPAS

Routine Spa Maintenance Programs using the Mermaid Sanitizer Dispenser.

"Every Other Day Program" (If Spa Is Used Daily)
  1. Using Brilliance Test Strips, test the Brilliance Sanitizer level.
  2. Check the Mermaid Sanitizer Dispenser to ensure it contains an adequate amount of Brilliance Sanitizer. Adjust the Mermaid Sanitizer Dispenser setting to maintain a Brilliance Sanitizer level of 2-4 ppm.
Weekly Program
  1. Add Brilliance Metal and Scale Control.
    • CIRCULATE ON HIGH SPEED FOR 30 MINUTES, WITH BLOWERS OFF — DO NOT INJECT AIR.
  2. Add Brilliance Oxidizer at least once a week. Additional applications are recommended after heavy spa usage or the appearance of cloudy water.
  3. Using Brilliance Test Strips, check the Brilliance Sanitizer level and adjust water balance according to recommendations in this guide.
    NOTE: If the Brilliance Sanitizer level tests consistently high, it is recommended to adjust the Mermaid Sanitizer Dispenser setting and/or reduce the frequency of using Brilliance Oxidizer.
  4. The Mermaid Sanitizer Dispenser contains enough Brilliance Sanitizer to last approximately 3-5 weeks, depending on your spa size. Once the dispenser is empty it should be discarded and replaced with another Mermaid Sanitizer Dispenser.

All measurements are in ounces. Dispenser setting refers to the number of open holes.
*The above dosage rates for Brilliance Metal and Scale Control are for the liquid version of the product. If you are using a Brilliance Starter Kit or the Mermaid Introductory Kit to start your spa, you have been provided with a more concentrated granular version of the product. One 2-ounce pouch of Brilliance Granular Metal and Scale Control will treat a 500-gallon spa for approximately 3 to 4 weeks.

 

ALTERNATIVE SANITIZING SYSTEM START-UP

Alternative sanitizing system spa start-up, using Chlorinating Granules or Bromo Tabs

After the spa is filled, have the spa water tested by your Authorized Brilliance Dealer. Balance the water according to the recommendations in this guide. Remember to also chemically clean your filter using Brilliance Filter Cleaner.

  1. Add Brilliance Metal and Scale Control (prior to adding Brilliance Start-Up, Brilliance Oxidizer, Bromo Tabs or Chlorinating Granules).
    • CIRCULATE ON HIGH SPEED FOR 30 MINUTES, WITH BLOWERS OFF — DO NOT INJECT AIR.
  2. Add Brilliance Start-Up if using Bromo Tabs. (Brilliance Start-Up should not be added if using Chlorinating Granules.)
  3. Add Brilliance Oxidizer if using Bromo Tabs. (Brilliance Oxidizer should not be added at start-up if using Chlorinating Granules.)
  4. a. If using Chlorinating Granules, add the initial dose of the Chlorinating Granules using the start-up table on the next page.
    b. If using Bromo Tabs, fill recommended floater with Bromo Tabs. Adjust the flow of water into the floater according to manufacturer recommendations. Place the filled floater into the spa or hot tub.
    • CIRCULATE ON HIGH SPEED FOR 15 MINUTES, WITH BLOWERS OFF — DO NOT INJECT AIR. 5. Using a Brilliance Test Strip, test for either Free Chlorine or Total Bromine, depending on the product being used, as listed below:
